How
carrying a baby with colic?

They cry more than most babies - much more. When they cry, they can stretch their legs and arms against their bodies and they look like they are in pain. Sometimes they stretch out their arms and legs and stiffen, then the shrink again. They even can be OK to mourn red.

A baby with colic may have crying spells or may mourn most of the time. When your baby cries, he or she may swallow air. This can give your baby gas and make your baby's tummy look swollen and feel hard.

What causes colic?

No one is sure what causes colic. But know it's not the fault of the parents. Colic is not caused by the way it is charged or caring for your baby. This can be caused by stomach pain. Babies with colic seem to need more attention and are more sensitive to things around them than other babies.

How long will the colic?

Colic often starts between the 2nd and 6th week after birth. This almost always disappears when the baby is 6 months old.

What I can do to help my baby stop mourn?

You can try many things to soothe your baby. These things include changes in the way that you feed your baby and changes in the way carrying his baby. Try the tips listed at the end of this booklet, to see if they help your baby stop mourn.

What dietary changes can help my baby to stop mourn?

Try feeding your baby, if more than 2 hours since the last feeding. Try feeding your baby more often but less amount each time.

If you give formula to your baby, your family doctor may suggest you try a different formula. Sometimes switching to a hydrolysed protein formula can help stop colic or at least alleviate it. Warm the formula to body temperature before feeding can also help.

Try using a nipple with a tiny hole in the bottle if bottle feeding takes less than 20 minutes and your baby seems to like sucking.

What about how I hold my baby?

Sometimes babies with colic will respond to different ways to charge them or rocking them.

* Hold your baby across your lap and massage his back.
* Hold your baby on a dishwasher turned on, washing machine or dryer (do not leave your baby alone.)
* Hold your baby upright.
* Load your baby while you walk.

What I can do when I get frustrated with my baby?

Colic can be hard to face for the parents. It can be frustrating services to infants who do not stop mourn. At any time you feel tired and frustrated, ask someone in charge of caring for your baby for a moment.

If you can not find anyone to help you, try going to another room and watch television or listen to the radio. Mourn not hurt your baby. Be sure to take some time away from baby, to not feel so frustrated.

Things to remember about colic

* You did not cause colic, so try not to feel guilty.
* Colic usually disappears after 6 months of age.
* You can try many things to soothe the baby.
* Giving your baby more attention, not "spoil" him or her.
* Just because your baby has colic, does not mean he or she is not healthy.

Tips to calm your baby

* Place a warm water bottle in your baby's stomach (make sure it is not too hot.)
* Rock your baby in a rocking chair or a cot.
* Place your baby on a swing rope.
* Give your baby a warm bath.
* Give your baby a pacifier. * Rub lightly
your baby's stomach.
* Wrap your baby in a soft blanket.
* Put your baby in the stroller and go for a walk.
* Take a ride in the car with her baby in the car seat. Source
